It is a style of Indian painting originated in northern India.
It was started by the women of northern India.
These paintings often have characteristics like complex geometrical patterns. They are also well known for representation of flora and fauna, the everyday life of the village & special occasions.
In these paintings, the artists often use natural motifs- every single symbol, geometric design & pattern has a meaning and a story behind it.
Earlier, the paintings were created on walls, floors, and cloth using fingers, twigs, and natural colors.
But today, modern Madhubani paintings can also be created with poster colors or acrylics on paper, cloth, or handmade paper.
